I'm so excited to announce the official release of Angeline, my new album inspired by 3 incredible Tennessee women in my early family history: my grandmother, her mother & grandmother. All were named “Angeline” & all were born in the 1800s. They are the emotional touchstone for my 10th studio album since 2014, with 7 new originals and 3 covers of 1960s classics.
An essential part of the legacy of the 3 Angelines in my life is the story of my grandmother, Matilda Angeline Fortner. She overcame the early loss of both her parents to marry at 18 and raise a family of 7 children during the Great Depression. Her selfless love, abiding devotion to her family and quiet Christian faith inspired all who knew her.
